Every new year brings an opportunity for change. Each new administration holds the promise of new direction. Birthdays are brand new ‘you’ years to fulfill new dreams; anniversaries are the chance to celebrate special bonds and occasions like it was the first time. Every contact with a stranger is the chance to make a new friend. And now, everything you buy is the chance to do more.
Imagine being able to buy whatever you want, and all that you need -- from motor oil to movie tickets, toothpaste to taxis, yogurt to yoga mats, diapers to dinner out, kibble to cappuccino and everything in between -- and no matter the cost, be rewarded for the transaction.
It doesn’t matter if you’re on a limited or fixed income, or fortunate enough to not have to sweat the price. Eventually, you need to buy stuff. We have to eat. Pay bills. There’s an occasional splurge – a gift for the folks, surprise guests from out-of-town, concert tickets you’ve waited months for. Planned or unplanned, eventually, you’re going to have to pull out the wallet. But now, there’s a bit of a bonus!
Depending on what we’re buying, and our circumstances at the time, determines how we pay for it. Many of us use debit cards these days. Some may be pre-paid, and others’ tied to a bank or credit union account. There are number of folks who still write checks and pay by money order. And cash is still king for items under $20 or so.
But find yourself buying something for $19.12 and you end up with $.88 in change. If you’re lucky (!) that’s three quarters, a dime, and three pennies. And you in your yoga pants, carrying your phone, latte and not much else. Sure, you can drop it in your pocket, assuming you have one, carry it home and put it in that mason jar where you can eventually convert it to real money. Or, you can put it in your Pockit!
Big ticket items, from appliance to travel, are often bought with credit cards, because we don’t want to lay out the immediate available funds. There also may be an associated reward, like bonus points, good towards merchandise or gift cards or credits towards travel miles. We wondered why we aren’t rewarded for everything we buy, regardless of price or method of payment? So we figured out a way to make that happen.
With the Pockit app, you can convert that pile of spare change into digital currency – immediately – and then convert it into real and meaningful rewards. Want to save up for that big ticket item? Pockit can be used for a savings account. Want to treat yourself for good behavior? Use it as a coupon or gift card for that special something. And our personal favorite.., you can give that money to someone who may need it more than you. Because Pockit allows you to contribute to the charity or cause of your choosing.
See you on the flip side!
